Curious to know your thoughts of limiting your expectations. I am currently under this impression:
If desire is suffering and if we decided to suffer through to our goals, I think we need to come to a realization.
A realization that we require the knowledge or set better (limited) expectations to know how long it will take for our desires to be achieved. This way we know how long we need to suffer and instead feel accomplished at the end. Building mental toughness or resilience for the end goal.
100%. For example, when I started writing online 3 years ago, I told myself, “you have 5 years to get good at this and figure out your direction.”
5 years is a long time, but not really. I started writing at 25, I’ll be 30 when I’m supposed to “get it.” At 30 I’ll have tons of life ahead of me + a vision.
So it’s a balance. The last 3 years have been a struggle in some ways, but if I didn’t give myself the time and grace to figure things out, I’d definitely be a lot more stressed. It’s crucial to give yourself enough time to make mistakes, but a set time to accomplish a goal.

Thanks for reading Mark!
Thanks. Great example. Made me think of all the academic years I put in.
Great read!
