Medium.com said, "Hold my beer."
This new feature may change your mind about the "reading" platform
Hey!
It’s Ryan from Part Time here, and I have good news.
Lately, I’ve been feeling a little meh about writing on Medium. It’s not about the number of views or followers I have; it’s been more of a “what’s the point?” kind of thing.
I’m sure you’ve felt it too. The world is ramping up post-pandemic, work quotas are back on the menu, and traffic-packed commutes are (unfortunately) a thing again.
It’s not your fault you don’t have time to sprawl out on the couch with your iPad and just…read. There isn’t time for that anymore. Just go go go.
Medium.com actually recognized our pain.
Finally, after years of acquiring companies, changing their algorithm, and frankly, doing things that seemed suspect to their readers and writers, they’ve finally installed something useful for the busy body.
Check this out:
It’s small enough to miss, but you’ll see a green “listen” button next to the read time if you look closely. This is mind-blowing.
Medium.com recently integrated an AI narrator into its platform, and it works for ALL articles. When I publish a story, it' just becomes an option. I don’t have to do any extra work to put it there.
This is big news for readers on the platform.
Now, you can listen to the audio of all your favorite authors in the car, on the train, or even while cooking chicken parmesan.
Medium just made it easier than ever to consume your favorite content.
Until next time,
Ryan
